4×4 collections

Inspired by scientific overviews and taxonomy sketches, I created these graphics. 16 technicolor cigarette-lighting-in-a-car-scenes were studied to make the following overviews: 1) composition and position of cigarette 2) 100 most common colours 3) sort/make of cigarette and lighter 4) model and colour of car

100 colours, animation

The coloured circles are going to be animated! Here’s a short test I made, using still frames from a video scene. Until now it’s only 1 second long… (click the image to see it moving)

100 spheres

100 spheres, representing the 100 most common colours in a film still. Now also the size of the spheres differs depending on how many pixels have the same colours. These are the representations of three different cigarette-lighting-in-a-car film stills, all seen from the same angle:

colour representation in 3d

I am working on another concept to show the predominant colours in a scene. The visualizations above were done in processing; using images with 256 colours as footage, each colour’s position is determined by its rgb value. There are still a lot of things I would like to try, for instance finding a nice amount … Continue reading

solar system of fame

An attempt to create a system to measure  the popularity/ importance/ quality/ famousness of the movies I analyzed. Inspired by schematic diagrams of the solar system, the movies are displayed as planets which  differ in size, appearance and position in space.

after pixelating the movie stills, the main colours and it’s percentage are determined and displayed in a pie chart
